Jan is NT Organizer for Cecchetti Ballet Australia Inc. Developing young talented artists, which includes providing performance opportunities on the professional stage, is her passion.
Jan has directed and choreographed dance productions for the Darwin and Palmerston communities for the past 29 years, the most recent being “Coppelia”, performed at the Darwin Entertainment Centre in 2012.

“Coppelia” was produced by the Palmerston Association for Dancing Inc ( the parent support body for Palmerston Ballet School - established 1984 ).With the support of Charles Darwin University and the Darwin Symphony Orchestra, Professor Martin Jarvis OAM PhD directed and conducted the full orchestra that accompanied the ballet. International Guest Principal Artists Adam Thurlow, (Australian Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet) Jin Yao (Hong Kong Ballet) and Adrian Dimitrevitch ( past ballet master Berlin Ballet) performed the lead roles of Franz, Swanilda and Dr Coppelius.

Jan originally studied dance in Melbourne at the Heidelberg and District Ballet School under Lorraine Blackbourn OAM , where she obtained her formal qualifications as a registered teacher ( L.C.B.A. – C.I.C.B.), and performed with the National Theatre in a number of classical ballets including the full length “Giselle”, and “Swan Lake” at Her Majesty’s Theatre. Her teacher whilst at the “National” was Madam Lucie Saranova, who in turn was a pupil of Maestro Enrico Cecchetti. Among Maestro Cecchetti’s most famous pupils were Anna Pavlova, Agrippina Vaganova, Mikhail Fokine, and Vaslav Nijinsky.
